Opposition party Siumut is ready to kick out all other languages than Greenlandic from the national legislature.
Spokesperson Malik Berthelsen said the party will introduce legislation that would require MPs to address the chamber using Greenlandic.
The bill would take effect in 2013, and according to Berthelsen, would serve to underscore to the nation that Greenlandic became the official language last year with the transfer to Self-Rule.
“Now that Greenlandic is the official language, all public officials should be speaking Greenlandic,” he said.
